Although not as popular as the ordinary DOS-boot configuration, NetWare for
OS/2 *does* continue to run under OS/2 and utilize various services,
including OS/2 virtual memory. In fact, NetWare for OS/2 is the only way I
know of which allows logging into a modern NetWare server from the same
machine.
While it is a somewhat complicated thing to set up, NetWare for OS/2 provides
some very nice facilities which are otherwise lacking on NetWare servers.
