Hi Libby,
KK> Hi Ruth...so good to hear from you and am glad that you are back on
KK> FIDO. I knew that you had been "knocked off" due to the lightning
KK> strike last summer but didn't know that Rachel was getting married.
 KK> Will she be
KK> staying in the area or will she and her "intended" be moving away?
I've been back on regularly since about December, with little blips here
& there, but yes, it is good to be back. David is joining the Air
Force, taking basic after the wedding; we have no idea where they will
be stationed.  I think Rachel wouldn't mind DM while we're still here;
she's really come to like AZ.
KK> Monsoon season was really something last summer. I really enjoyed it
KK> as it kept the temperatures down below 100 degrees for a good part of
KK> the summer. I don't mind the humidity when its not quite so hot.
I'd say last summer was the most tolerable since we got here; had the
most rain, that's for sure. I had to make sure all the electronics were
unplugged during the storms; didn't want the computer or my sewing
machine to get fried. I fit sewing in between storms it seemed. We had
a couple of major power outages too; wish I had a treadle machine for
those times. Even tho we're cooler than Tucson, I'd still like it a bit
cooler. Yesterday was sunny & got up to 71; that's my kind of weather!
KK> You sure are keeping busy with the upcoming wedding plans. Am glad
KK> that you were able find some place to purchase fabric. I've heard
KK> good things about Buttons & Bolts; that they are great about ordering
KK> speciality fabric for those needing it.
They are probably everything you've heard; give them a try. Last fall I
was the parent co-ordinator for making 20 dresses for the high school
girl's choir; the music teacher and I ended up there after Hancock's
didn't have what we needed and their turn around time for special orders
was 6-8 weeks. Believe me, any time I need something special, they will
be the first place I go to!
KK> So glad to hear that Steve will get back from Korea before the
KK> wedding. I'm sure that you're going to be happy to have him home
Unless something big blows up there in the next couple of weeks, he will
be home on the 25th (flying into Tucson). We've never cared for military
separations but have put up with it as part of the job. It will be so
good to have him around; it gets too quiet here for me sometimes.
KK> looks like I've been gone too long. How did you luck out and get to
KK> stay here in warm Arizona for another year???
Steve got his orders changed; Deborah really wanted to stay at the same
school for all of high school. She's quite active in JROTC; her
commander was happy to hear that she would finish out the year as a
company commander. It looks like she will have one of the 3 top cadet
staff positions next year too.
KK> I would love to connect sometime when you're up in Tucson. I have my
KK> own business now. I have opened a booth at the Crafters Express on
KK> Speedway and Pantano. I am selling rubber stamps and teaching
KK> different classes. I am having a great time and meeting new people
KK> all the time. My phone
KK> number is 544-8198. Let me know the next time you're in town and if
KK> you don't have a ton of errands to run; maybe we can "do" lunch.
We passed it just a couple of weeks ago & didn't know! Is this one of
the crafter's mall type places? I've got a few stamps but not really
played around with them; the sewing is my #1 priority at the moment.
I'm also teaching a class at our church on how to teach preschoolers;
when that ends I'll do one on how to teach children. I'll do the youth
and adult sessions this summer and fall.
I got the phone #, now just have to figure out when I'll be up again
(besides going to the airport). I suspect it will be for a prom dress
for Deborah, and hopefully she won't be as picky as she was for the
JROTC ball last month.
I figure by starting to make the gir;'s dresses for the wedding now,
that by the end of June everything will be done without a lot of last
minute rush. I'm going to pace myself so that I can take breaks from
sewing to do some other fun stuff. I do have fabric & a pattern for a
dress for me but if I don't get time to get it made, I also have an
outfit that I got last month at Ross that will look good.
KK> Stay in touch. I promise to check FIDO at least twice a week. It was
KK> great to hear from you again.
Same here. I'll probably check mail every day, at least the personals &
let you know when I'm coming to town again.
Catch you later,
Ruth
