I sense that Arlen needs to understand grub's 3 parts better. Maybe he
could visit the wp article and the grub docs in whatever depth
necessary. He could also use some repair tools just to examine what he
has before he tries to take them apart and reassemble, such as supergrub
2, rescatux, or boot-repair from a live cd/usb. Even a little hex dump
could see grub's part 1 'signature' in the mbr.
He has 3 tera worth of disks there, 2 WDs & a Tosh. I would hope
there's enough spare space to move some things around.
