* EleBBS Support List
Mike,
I was using AMUW 3.20. To the best of my abilities, it was due to the log
files-
Situation:
TASK: Import networked/existing FileGate filesbase (Samba) into EleBBS.
a. Use ROM2RA to create fileareas based upon FDN Template filearea-
Completed Successfully.
b. Import files using either AMU or EleFile- Completed successfully multiple
times.
c. Verify files & descriptions by exporting the allfiles.txt & online
viewing- Files were imported but files.bbs extracted descriptions had some
odd CR/LFs in the allfiles.lst & online viewing.
Background:
The existing filebase resides on a lFreeBSD server running Samba with a
share created by mapping drive H;\ from teh bss to teh server. The existing
files were tossed using hpt and is a files.bbs system.
I spent the best of 3 hours going through the AMUWv3.20 manual to ensure
everything was accurate. I had run several tests successfully on the Win32
test bed (laptop) but now installing it on the production server
(EleBBS/W2k3 Server).
After several attempts to import and/or re-adopt the files I used AMUW
-importdiz. This is where reality strikes, forcing me to mutter the words,
"Oh, that wasnt nice". My wife thougjht I was speaking of her cooking....
The oddity is 98% of the d:\ele directory tree was gone, \menus \questions
\fe (fastecho) - even if it was not in use or completely unconnected to the
task at hand.
With this info, I can only link it to AMU reading the log files into memory,
beginning the importdiz procedure (witnessed pkzip extracting the diz files)
and experiencing an internal error. The one thing that I can not recall that
could have alot to do with this- was tp7p5fix.exe active in thios window or
a different one.
It is odd, no doubt as I have used AMUv3.20 on my test system numerous times
& liked the results.
I am curious to feedback or insight.
