Hi Wendy,
Long time, no see! Good to see you're back.
WB> Sounds like you have plenty to do, as usual. Getting that fabric
WB> on special order sounds like a dream come true. It sure is neat
WB> that you can make the dresses -- I'm sure that will make it even
 WB> more special for Rachel.
As Steve says about the computer, "it keeps me off the streets. (G)" It
seems I'm always "into" some sort of project with the sewing
machine/serger. The funny thing is, there was a time I didn't really
know how much I'd use a serger--did I ever go wrong there; I sometimes
wonder now how I could have thought that, especially with the wedding
coming up. Rachel had thought about buying her dress but saw THE
pattern in November and changed her mind. The store I special ordered
from is great for working with seamstresses; they even have a nice
discount for quantity purchases for things like wedding fabrics.
WB> That's great, that you don't have to move right in the middle of
WB> planning a wedding for your daughter. I don't know what I'd do if
WB> I had to even consider something like that!
He found out at the end of October that he had the change in orders.
Rachel got her diamond for an early Christmas present from David and,
after considering multiple factors, they settled on a late June wedding.
It would have been a big pain to move and then set up the wedding; this
way we are asking friends who are specialists in their areas (flowers,
cake, etc) to work with us, making it that much more special.
WB> Bet you and Steve have missed one another and I'm sure you'll both
WB> be glad he's home! Gosh, I've had Tom home here with me for
WB> the almost-5 years he's been laid off and now that he's back working,
WB> I miss him so badly during the day I don't know how I'd handle him
 WB> being gone longer!
We have used e-mail to keep in touch; this is the first time he's been
gone that we've had the opportunity to use it. It's not quite like
having a hand written letter but the turn around time makes it more
personal. With Rachel leaving and Deborah finishing her junior year of
high school (which means she's close to leaving home), it will be so
good to have him back again. The other day he called for a few minutes
and was talking with Rachel and me about what he would wear for the
wedding. She hasn't decided yet if the guys should be in tuxes or good
suits so he told her "I'll just sew a satin stripe down a pair of
jeans." I had a good laugh over that; my dad threatened the same thing
but he ended up wearing a tux.
It's good to hear that Tom is back to work; I know it must be quite the
adjustment having him gone during the day now. Did you ever finish the
tedy bear 9 patch quilt you had started? I had every good intention of
doing at least one quilt top while Steve was gone but other sewing
projects have kept me from that. Maybe after the wedding. (G)
WB> I guess we do what we have to...
Yes, and God gives us the strength to do that.
Catch you later,
Ruth
