| subject: | RE: Fw: dissuading Telemarketer tips |
> There's always something else. I'd rather dig ditches or take in > laundry > than be a telemarketing drone. No, thanks. >that's YOUR choice -- but these days you have to be able to run a backhoe to dig ditches, and very, very few do other folks laundry. >Neodata, a third party fullfillment house (when you send your magazine subscriptions to Boulder, that's Neodata) is a HUGE employer in that area. In >these days, employment is a Good Thing (or do you really want to treble the number of fast food restaurants?). Besides, sending business reply >envelopes doesn't go to telemarketers, but to data entry people, who are likely not even in the same company, let alone same department... Increasingly they're not even in the same *country* India is picking up enormous volumes of customer service jobs -- if you call a customer service number and get someone with an Indian accent, they're probably not immigrants, your call has probably been shuttled to India. There have been all sorts of news stories about it. >Key difference: the business reply envelope is part of a paper marketing system, which is separate from a telemarketing system. >Some people find junk mail a zit on the face of existence, but it's not the same as the boil that is telemarketing. right. I'm not fond of junk mail either, but it doesn't interrupt dinner, entertainment or my sleep, and doesn't ask me to sit on hold after it's called me. I separate it from my regular mail, and dump it into the trash can conveniently placed next tot he mailbox. There's an address you can write to that will remove you from a lot of junk mail. I don't have it to hand right now, but will post it later. --- Rachel's Little NET2FIDO Gate v 0.9.9.8 Alpha* Origin: Rachel's Experimental Echo Gate (1:135/907.17) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 135/907 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
