  In SA ( and other parts of Africa), the ability to modify to suit local
needs is critical.  People have already done this with MSDOS accounting
packages by making them run with rock bottom hardware, ultra resistant to
the many unexpected power outages, and very cheap.

   Linux is not much less bloated than windows in its fully decked out
configuration, but is easier to make a smaller customized package.
