What operating system are you running under? Typically:

eleserv -telnet

will start up the eleserv telnet daemon.  If you're behind an nat, you'll
have to port forward port 23 to your box.

-ftp is the ftp daemon, -xa allows anonymous access to the ftp server if
you've got an anonymous account set up with the guest flag set and any
password in place.  -xu allows uploading. (allow port 20-21)  The ftp server
is an active (PORT) server and doesn't support PASV yet.

-news is the news server, I'm not sure if there are additional flags for it.
(allow port 119)

-ident is the ident server. (allow port 113 I think).
