Okay here's something that might stir some discussion.  Maybe.

Once upon a time somebody sent out one of those redneck jokes in
email. You've probably all seen it? It's a set of redneck pics. One of
them featured a redneck wedding. One pic had the cake as a five or so
tiered assembly alternating with hostess cupcakes, ding dongs and
other such 'goodies'.

Another pic showed the bride and groom who look remarkably alike tho
the bride is about 5 mos. pregnant and smoking. Off to the side are
two Roties (rotoweilers ...

I didn't notice the dogs. I was more put off by the bride. But someone
I sent that to had royal FIT about the dogs. This person has three of
them and very proud to own such a fine breed.  I was yelled at , "how
do those kind of people get a pure bread dog like that?"

I was put off this person's bias and anger so didn't really answer the
question only to say it's just a joke!!!! These pics were probably
posed for all we know. (Better to appease the person than to argue).

But the answer I think is this: Just go to petfinder.com and browse
any locale /any shelter / any breed/mix and you will be shocked.
I was!

Yes even purebred dogs, even cute little dogs! have been abused/abandoned-
ending up in rescue shelters.

That is how those of us who can't or don't want to fork over 400
dollars plus for a purebred pup can obtain a purebred dog.

Thankfully too most shelters are careful who they allow to adopt their
charges. They don't want to see the dog back again. Usually not
adoptable again due to issues or age.

(Aside: Not all shelter dogs are abused and most are able to be helped
with any issues they may have with lots of assertive calm patience... )

I thought the angry bias person was way off base. People of all walks
of life often treat their dogs better than they do themselves or each
other.
