(You wouldn't believe the reaction from Markus's born-again wife when they
were arguing about schooling for their daughter. The mother was confident
that insisting on a private school would equal a religious school. When I
told Markus about Montessori, she freaked!)
Through one of my writers, (who should NOT be a school teacher), I have
extensive contact with many other teachers in the public school system --
their belief in "the collective" and fear of competition is so
pathological it seems religious.
There really needs to be many more providers for the education market. The
tax laws artificially skew this market in favor of church-run institutions.
