BN>If so, why do we bother to discuss Trek at all, then? After all,
BN>if it's all just fiction it's completely irrelevant anyway, & thus
BN>pointless. They very fact that we all _do_ talk about is de facto
BN>proof that it matters to us.
I didn't say that Trek doesn't matter to us. What I was
refering to specifically was Poster Pinky's opinion. What does
Poster Pinky's opinion matter. So what if he's wrong? Let him go
ahead and be stubbornly, hard headed wrong! It doesn't have to change
what I think, it doesn't have to change what *you* think.
What I'm really saying here, is that by insisting that there
*is* a central right and wrong to Trek, and by arguing with Poster
Pinky to convince him of his error, then you're trying to jam *your*
opinion down Poster Pinky's throat, even if yours is more well reasoned
and backed up by research.
OTOH, here I am trying to jam my opinion down *your* throat that
arguing with Poster Pinky is a colossal waste of time. You're wrong
to do it and should stop immmediately and do things my way... (Rueful
Grin)
Personally, when faced with Poster Pinky's strange opinions I
vary between three basic reactions A> "Hmmmm." I consider it for my
own use. B> "No." I just disagree with it. C> "That guy's an idiot."
and I tend to ignore his posts from then on in.
BN> There, see, I told you you'd missed my point -- you were
BN>preaching to the choir, just in the wrong church.
Okay, I suppose so. What does mean?
