Uhhh, Jackson, you might want to check on when the U.S Military was having
problems with the Moros. Since the M1917 model revolver came about around
six years after the M1911 did, it probably was not ready to be issued during
the Phillipine insurrection either. :-) As I remember, .45 cal single action
revolvers were re-issued from reserves since the .38 cal revolvers that were
current issue were not able to reliably stop a Moro (who was sometimes on
drugs) before he had hacked one of our soldiers to death. This is what
spurred the Army's search for a .45 cal pistol. They learned the hard way a
.38 cal round did not have adequate stopping power, which of course is why
they have come full circle to the 9mm.
