You can do an Archive and Install, yes, but that's basically a
reinstallation of the OS that keeps your old applications and settings. Not
my idea of a solution either. However, be aware that Macintouch and
MacFixIt basically focus on users that have had problems. It's probably a
very small subset of the installed base. But yeah, AFAIK, there's no system
restore. I guess that would be a backup set if you have one.

That's an Apple quote? If so, maybe the problem is the standard and not
Apple's implementation of it?
