The M16 series is a rather finnicky rifle to this day -- but nothing
like it was in Viet Nam.  Cleaning for sand is simply breaking open the
receiver and brushing out sand, wiping parts, and so on.  There ARE some
small parts you need to keep track of, but nothing major.
