Reread the whole thread, or just Dustins's explanations.
Basically MBAM may find malware that Avast wouldn't and it doesn't 
noticeably impact my Win7HE 64bit system at all.
I also like its 'malicious' web checking feature better than Avast's.

It was around 2002-3 when Norton got bloated. Before that, it was one of the 
most respected anti-virus programs.

As I stated in a previous post to this discussion, Norton is good.

Again, read Dustins explanations on why you should consider running an 
anti-malware program along with your anti-virus program in real time mode.
