I'm not going to be at Cedarcrest. I'm being involuntarily
transferred to the next junior high over, Spanaway Jr. (as
opposed to Spanaway Lake Sr. High--it's how we differentiate the
schools).
And I've found out my tentative schedule for next year. At least,
I hope it's tentative.
2 classes of 8th-grade English
3rd-period planning
2 classes of 9th-grade English
School newspaper.
FOUR English classes AND the newspaper! Can you say "at school
til 9 every night grading papers"? I knew you could.
I'm playing phone tag with the principal right now, and hopefully
I can get together with him and have a talk about this. I'd be
okay with doing the newspaper (I have some experience with it,
and know Pagemaker pretty well, plus it comes with a stipend) if
I didn't have 4 English classes as well. If he could give me a
couple of history classes, I might be willing to do it. But
newspaper *and* 4 English.... what's the point of being endorsed
K-8 if I can't teach something else???
The good news, of course, is that I have a job--300 teachers just
got laid off in the Seattle school district. But still, I'd like
a job where I'm less likely to be completely swamped for the
entire year. My mother has diabetes and fibromyalgia; I can't
spend my whole life at work.
Good thinkings requested for my meeting with Jon....
