Yeah, but it would be a lot better if that firmware were software instead.
Better still if it were all hardware with just an open interface.

Hardware-wise, the two are the same, so the mods will all work fine.  To 
apply mods for the PRO-2004/5/6 to the PRO-2035/2042 might require a little 
ingenuity or inventiveness in some instances, but nothing out of the 
dinary.
