RJT> VH> The Para Ordnance company made the first "wide body" M1911-types. RJT> VH> This is the basic .45 automatic with a double-stack magazine. The RJT> VH> name says it all -- a genuine Browning M1911 design (but with a RJT> VH> ramped barrel) and a magazine capacity of 14 rounds of .45 ACP. RJT> VH> A little clever slimming of the grip panels makes it about the same RJT> VH> thickness as a standard, "Single-stack" M1911. RJT> VH> Para Ordnance guns have a good reputation, too -- in terms of RJT> VH> workmanship, materials, accuracy and reliability. RJT>Hm. I'm going to have to take a look at that one. I don't mind a large gr RJT>and in fact one of the reasons I bought the Taurus 9mm I did was because of RJT>large grip (I have pretty large hands). Never thought about a .45 RJT>double-stacker... I've shot them -- they feel pretty good to me. Right now, I usually carry one Chip McCormic 8-rounder in the gun, and sometimes two 10-rounders on my pouch. With one up the spout, that's 29 rounds. With a Para Ord 14.45, I'd have 29 rounds with just one extra mag. .............................................................. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
