-> In Spain, nothing about this makes sense. They sell it to us as an energy 
-> saving 
-> measure, which is absurd if we take into account that most people here usual 
-> have dinner at say 10pm, and many people goes to sleep late in the night, pa 
-> midnight. So there's really not much of an energy saving. 
 
-> On the other hand, for reasons that escape any thinking mind, while Portugal 
-> has GMT, we go with the same time that the Germans. So when they wake up at 
-> 6:00am, it's a perfectly decent hour to do so. When we wake up at 6:00am, it 
-> closed night. When we wake up at 7:00am, it's still closed night. And in som 
-> weeks, when we woke up at 8:00am it's still dark. 
  
It may save on air-conditioning, by making people be awake more during 
the cooler times of day/night. 
  
Back in the 1970's, the Yanks tried keeping DST all year round. (Here 
in Canada, we didn't.) The result was a big increase in road accidents 
during the morning rush-hour. The experiment was soon ended.
