Hi mark. 25 May 17 17:55:14, you wrote to me: ml> true but in some cases, maybe not... i had a link in washington state that ml> was way out in the boonies and had some really attrocious lines... they had ml> huge troubles downloading large bundles... one problem was new mail being ml> added to it after the transfer had failed so the next time they had to ml> start all over again pulling a larger bundle... we switched them to raw ml> PKTs which were much smaller and they could get them all over numerous ml> connections without having to start all over again each time... Yes. There are always special cases. TK>> I prefer receiving mail zipped to my point. ml> i do raw PKTs everywhere... why waste the resources to zip them when ml> the ml> mailer and network protocols can compress them on the fly? ;) The compression is irrelevant nowadays when tranferring over the internet. But if a point (or node) polls mail only once or twice a day, it might be nice to transfer only one file instead of one hundred or so. At lest the log files look better. ;) Ok, it is possible to combine many .pkts to one. In that case arcmail sure is not needed. :) 'Tommi ---* Origin: IPv6 Point at [2001:470:1f15:cb0:2:221:1:1] (2:221/1.1) SEEN-BY: 3/50 103/705 154/10 201/0 203/0 221/0 1 6 360 227/51 230/0 240/1120 SEEN-BY: 240/1661 5832 249/303 261/38 266/404 280/464 5003 292/854 310/31 SEEN-BY: 320/219 423/81 120 633/267 280 640/384 712/550 848 770/1 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 3634/24 @PATH: 221/1 203/0 280/464 712/848 633/267 |
