Hi Greg,
True, but MS-DOS 5.0 and DR-DOS 6.0 (and, I assume) newer versions of
DOS should support some type of drive parameter function. You can
choose the 720k drive in BIOS, then use the DRVPARM function to set the
parameters for the 1.44m drive. I had to do this on a 286 once.
