Hi Ronnie,
 Just wanted to let you know what's going on with my search. Not too much 
really. I went to city hall in the city that was listed as my place of birth 
on my amended birth certificate. They had no record of my being born in that
city under my birth name or under my adopted name. She said that the names
are filed under 5 year blocks. That should have covered it. 
 I went to the records department in the only hospital in the city (it's not
a very big city) and the woman took my birth mother's name and my birth date 
and said that when she had time she would look it up and send me the 
information. She asked me if I was adopted and I said yes. She then said,
don't get your hopes up because she could have come in as Jane Doe to have
the baby. My last stop in my birth city (?) was the public library. I found
a few city directories. There were many years missing. Jumped from 1939 to
1961. No microfilm either. At least I got a chance to know what you were
talking about when you told me about Polk's City Directory.
 The next thing I did was to go to the big city of Buffalo, NY. I went to
the Library and they had more city directories. Hard copy and microfilm.
Now for the big thing I think I learned! While looking though the 1950-51
city directory, I found a listing for a Leroy (Viola) Wiltse. This is the 
first time I ever saw their names together. Up to now I thought Leroy's last
name was Ames, but now I think that may have been his middle name. 
On the lawyer's disbursements & fee paper, people seem to be addressed by 
their first name. 
Example: Three interviews with Viola
         Interview with Leroy Ames
         Telegram to Leroy Ames
I don't know, maybe I'm way off base. It's just too much of a coincidence
seeing their names listed together in the directory. It's odd because that
is the only directory they were listed in. Not the years before or the years
after.
I don't know what to do next. I need more info. I thought about writing the
Surrogate Court Judge. I noticed her name was listed in last years phone
book.
Do you think she would have access to any infomation? Sorry about the long
