VH> Nor is the 5.56X45 nearly as effective against barriers, VH> such as logs, VH> sandbags, walls, and so on as the .30-06 or the 7.62X51 VH> NATO. Remember that I was comparing the .223 to a .30 carbine, not M2 ball or 150 g .308, and in a hairy situation, I think I'd be hard pressed to find someone who'd prefer an M1 Carbine to an M-16. Both the M-14 and the FAL are difficult to control while in full auto. Sure, the .308's got stop, which is why the M-60 won't go away anytime soon. Personally, my match service rifle is an M1A, I prefer the .30 caliber round, and shoot 175 g Sierra's when most of the .30 cal guys are shooting 168's. Comes from years of shooting M118 military match at 174 g. But I can also appreciate the role of the .223. There's plenty of dead Iraqi's who don't share your opinion of that round. :) --- Ceska Zbrojovka* Origin: Washington AK-47 Organization (1:138/179) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 138/179 255 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
