JW>RN> How does the dog behave when you're feeding it? JW> No issues whatsoever. We can pet him, move the food or take it away. He JW> is so grateful for his new life that he accepts us as the Alphas in his JW> life. That is unusual. Dogs aren't particular about sharing water or even having it taken away, but food is another matter. He seems rather unique. JW> Intimidating to others, but rarely to an owner or one that knows the JW> breed. My daughter has an 11 yr old female that I've known since she was JW> 2. Daughter is also the secretary for the local rottweiler club, so I've JW> had the opportunity to meet a handful of other rotts belonging to friends JW> or club members. I can honestly say that I've never met a rott that I JW> didn't like. But I will add a disclaimer saying that these are all owned JW> by responsible people and the dogs are all VERY well behaved and have JW> excellent manners. I'm sure there are irresponsible people out there JW> doing backyard breeding and making mean rotties, but I have not yet met JW> any of these animals or people. I forgot to mention we have a mini-Pinscher in the yard, along with a Yorkie, a female Dachsund/Chihuahua mix and another male mix breed. I haven't seen the Rottie that belongs to my daughter's MIL and I hate to say this, but I'd rather see the Rottie than owner. (-: I must have something against MILs, having had a bad experience with one of the two I had. All four of the dogs are very good at protecting the property here and I will hand feed them from time to time. They all sit near the chair I'm in and wait their turn, knowing the Yorkie is first, then the mini-pinscher, the female mix and then the other male. If you want some background on people who mistreat dogs, there are resident experts here. Richard has had some experience with that type and so has Bob Ackley. JW> I can just picture this scene!! I can still see it in my mind's eye. A good thing I don't frighten easily. JW> I imagine quite a few repetitions!! They are very gentle giants that JW> are happiest when with their people. A bad choice of phrasing. I should have said many, many times. The strange thing about her is that when you're petting her, she growls approval and that in itself can be very scary. Regards, Roger ... Marriage? No thanks, I don't breed well in captivity. --- D'Bridge 3.05* Origin: NCS BBS (1:3828/7) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 53/558 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 3828/7 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
