That's exactly the sort of thing portrayed in the movie.  The way I
remember it, the 'brains' of the group in the movie explains to a female on
the inability to predict the path taken by a drop or two of water down the
outside of a human hand, given differences in: temperature; placement of
the drops; whether the hair folicles are upright; etc, etc.  The confluence
of these minor variables, making up such a miniscule event, can have an
enormous impact to the extent that they ensure an unpredictable outcome.
