Originally, it was the WWWF - World Wide Wrestling Federation under
Vince McMahon Sr. When
Junior (Vinnie Mac [aka the Genetic Jackhammer] ) took over, he shortened
it to the WWF. It took
10 - 15 years before the World Wildlife Fund got around to suing, and
eventually winning. So WWF
became WWE.
