I have real issues with this, especially in the modern climate of personal
information gathering. While that's not something a BBS sysop does (for
pusposes other than running the BBS itself), the perception is out there,
because of all those services that _do_ collect your information to add you to
their mailing lists.
I also have other issues that make jumping through hoops something I prever to
avoid. I will be keeping my guest account, but will be reviewing the security
settings. Long term is I may leave it for file download access only. In this
scenaario, telnet guest access might become information about signing up to the
BBS and that's in, in this scenario.

Good point. Again, I will explore options involving security settings first.
