For the UMPteenth time, **I** have NEVER told a parent that a child
needs medication or named a condition.
One of my school's former social workers was of the opinion that if a
staff member did so, that the district then assumed liability for any
medical treatment.
My point was that teachers should be able to clue parents in when a
student is having problems in order to rule out medical causes so that
learning can occur, not to label the student, or hurt the parents'
feelings, or get the student qualified for social security benefits or
any of the other negative reasons that might be/have been brought up.
