Got a dead ATX power supply here... I just got this case, cheap. Got the MB off my brother. I had MB and floppy drive and HD power plugged into it, but it supposedly being a 250W supply, I don't think you could call this thing seriously loaded down or anything. While testing, trying to set some stuff up, I was flipping the switch of the PS itself on and off. Not a thing comes up now. Not even a twitch of the fan. Opened it up (somebody'd been in there before me, that "seal" was broken" and checked out what I could, nothing obvious. This unit has little board with what almost appears to be a separate small PS screwed to the tops of the heatsinks?! Anyhow, fuse is good. Thermistor is good (about 8 ohms cold), bridge rectifier is good, caps are good as far as I can tell, main switchmode transistors are neither shorted or open, and I have *no* idea about the rest of it. Repair FAQ says "startup"... Beats the heck out of me what parts I might be wanting to look at next, to the extent that I can with my eyes in the shape they're in these days. I'm not waiting on this to get going with that machine, but, anybody have other suggestions to offer on this? Besides tossing it? :-) ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 379/1 396/45 106/2000 633/267 |
