I am glad we are working on this idea. I think it is excellent to broadcast
our convention on the internet if possible.
I know this will stimulate discussion, but I am also in favor of broadcasting
the convention live to the hotel rooms. I think this would serve us better
than broadcasting past conventions and banquets on the closed circuit system.
Some of our attendees are not in good health and can't sit through a
session. This would give them the opportunity to at least see and/or hear
what is going on.
Others are envolved in federation work and might be able to get more of the
convention if it is broadcast.
I am well aware that we would have people who would take advantage of this
who might not attend the sessions in this case, and I am still an advocate of
having to be in the session to ask questions or win door prizes unless you
are out on federation business, but I think the committed federationists
would still go to the sessions and I believe the good points of doing this
outweigh the bad ones.
At one time, this technology was not available. Now that it is, we should
take advantage of it by broadcasting the sessions and banquet to the hotel
rooms whenever possible.
