I'm not sure anyone actually suggested it in this thread, but when doing a
vinyl to CD transfer I do an analog copy to wave, edit the wave, and then
burn the wave to CD, avoiding any use of MP3. Then having created the CD
version of my old vinyl album (sort of the new "master") I'll rip
it to my hard drive in MP3 format as I've done with my regular CDs, using
my regular rip program (which happens to be RealOne, don't all groan at
once now!)
It wouldn't make sense to me to repeatedly edit using a lossy format like MP3.
