Hi Paul, Here is a message I noticed in the POINTS echo, and it's interesting to see that Msged 3.05 has reached Zone 1, but how the fuck did he manage to get his origin line before the EOT kludge? And why did Squish add another control line? Something very weird is going on... =============================================================== Date: Fri May 26 1995 15:23:42 From: Joey Mukherjee To: John Aceto Subj: Should I Point? The biggest pro is having automated mail transfers. Other pros are ability to freq files, adding conferences (even ones not carried by the boss) is easier, and over all low maintenence. The biggest con is it takes up more space than most mail readers. Another pro is you can have files automatically sent to you... JA> What equipment would I need to become a point? Hardware wise, nothing. Software - pick up Binkley and probably PPOINT. Binkley is a mailer (gets the mail to and from the boss) and PPOINT is the tosser/reader. The latest version of Binkley is 2.59a with the file name probably being BDOS259A.ZIP. PPoint regularly comes through the file networks so you may be able to a search for it on a local board and get it. If you want a more complex point, you can go with Binkley/Squish/MsgEdSq. These work in both DOS and OS/2 versions. That's what I'm using BTW. I've been a point for quite a while and couldn't go back to QWK packets...
