     You are right about a lot of things, James. Yes, there is a reason that
 the novels can only go to a certain point beyond ROTJ. I think the official
 point in time is 25-30 years, although I'm not sure on that. Anything past
 that is forbidden territory. I also agree that Lucas will wait until well
 after I-III are released before he makes a final decision regarding VII-IX.
 I think his current "6 films" stance is simply his "official line" right
 now, and it was better for him to change his public statements from 9 to 6
 because no one is sure if there will be any more. He doesn't want to commit
 to them just yet.
 Also, a while ago, there were rumors of new characters from I-III appearing
 again in VII-IX. While probably just speculation, it could be done.
