That's what I trained on when I first came in the Army, and what I
carried (after my M2 carbine got wrapped around a tree) on my first tour
as an Adviser to a Vietnamese infantry unit.

I have one -- a CMP rifle I got years ago.  And more than 45 years ago,
I bought an M1 saddle boot in an Army surplus store for about $3.00.  I
still have it, and carry my M1 on horseback now and then. :-)
