I have read the Expanse books and the series has really made that universe
real.  I love the gravel voiced take-no-shit lady they have playing Chrisjen
she also was Admiral Paris on the last Startrek movie.

The woman was a former Iranian citizen from Persian desecnt.  Before the
Ayatollas took over she watched Startrek in Farsi (now it's not allowed on the
tv in her country.

As for 12 Monkeys I couldn't get into that one.
