Lucasfilm's site (www.starwars.com) has finally updated again, with a new
section focusing on the design of the "Jedi Council Chamber". This appears
to basically be the Galactic HQ of the Jedi order, and their main temple.
It's a very tall spire-like building on Coruscant, and should be one of the
tallest there.
The final designs for this building have 3 balconies that were designed
because of a balcony scene that was written into the script and shot.
From its inner sactum, there's a view of much of the surrounding area. Also
in its center lies a large, circular array of chairs in which the most
powerful Jedi masters sit and share information. This is supposed to be
reminiscent of the Round Table of Arthurian Legend.
I'm glad that Lucas is seeming to icorporate many of the same mythic themes
of the original trilogy into the new one.
Anyway, if you can check out the page, you should. It's pretty.
