Gary, you might want to look at a file i/o library I wrote called
PBFiles.
It is a freeware package, where the documentation is copyrighted (but
free) and the assembly language source code is in the public domain (so
you can make your own additions and modifications if you know
assembler). It includes an OBJ file you can $LINK directly into your PB
code, and some pretty d**n good tutorials and tech ref material.
It lets you do things that you can't do in regular PB3, like trap
critical errors -- but for you, I think the tutorials would be the
nicest feature.
It probably hasn't drifted its way into your locality, but it can be
downloaded from the PB BBS at 1-408-659-7401, or from CIS, in the
PCVENB conference, library 12 (the PowerBASIC forum library). Or you
can FIDO freq it from these nodes:
105/317 - 14.4 v32
105/314 - 14.4 HST Dual Standard (9600 v32)
105/330 - 14.4 v32
Just ask for PBFILES.ZIP -- it's about 34K bytes long.
* SLMR 2.1a * MAXLIB For PB v1.1 - Access arrays and files in EMS/XMS!
--- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12
