Set aside for a moment the asinine idea that any one on active duty,
working where they are assigned, would (could) always avoid combat,
Do you have any evidence that Stan ever had orders to a CZ and asked to
have them changed?
Do you know for sure that Stan  NEVER put in a request for combat duty that
was denied?
You can not even get the time of Stans service right, so I doubt you can
answer this but; You use the word always, as  if Stan "avoided"
combat on a daily basis. Just how many active conflicts was the U.S.
involved in where Stan could have "avoided" any combat.
