Hi All
I was just blown away by a revelation while listening to my A/V system
tonight. I recently bought the Beatles Anthology video collection and I
was commenting on the fantastic sound I was getting on my home theater
system, after upgrading two of the power amps to a pair of Adcom's:
a GFA-535II for the center and surround, and a GFA-545 for the mains. I
then decided to compare the video quality to the same songs on the CD
collection after reading a few comments in this echo about high quality
tape being better than CD. I playing a few of the same songs, at the
same time, on both my CD player and my hi fi VCR, switching between the
two, and I found the VCR much fuller, more depth, more clarity, more
warmth, more brilliance, and more punch - the best comparison was
"Across the Universe". I'll never listen to my CD's again and assume
they always sound the best; which is sort of a bummer, because I always
loved the sound of CD'S before this occured, and now that I'm aware of
the real difference, I'm hoping it does not magnify itself and lessen
my enjoyment of the music on CD.
