  Your right Helen, it really does vary from person to person, I met my 
natural mother when I was 19, I have known her for 3 1/2 years now and am 
very VERY happy that I got to know her and my extended fammily..  It sounds 
like you have a VERY inteligent and loving son..  Society is very cruel to 
the adopted and the parent(s) who placed their children up for adoption and 
too many go away being hurt and or angry because they where placed for 
adoption, on the flip side the natural parents are scared that their own 
children are going to hate them..  It sounds like it is not the case here.  I 
know I have been rambling here.  The question isn't so much wheather or not 
YOU want to start the search but it should be your sons choice.  Ask him what 
he feels about it, and discuss what he hopes to gain from the experaince, and 
be sure to let him know that it is okay with you if he should say "Yes"..
