At this point I'm looking to get out of the Army (active at least) before
the end of the month. I'll be building a frankenclone soon after. Just for
information's sake I'm looking at an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (nice price point)
on a Gigabyte GA-7NNXP motherboard with 512mb of DDR PC2700 memory. ATI
Radeon 9600 Pro video or equivalent (ATI 9600 Pro chip at least). Should be
a nice SETI box as well.

So... this thing is going to be replacing my primary server, which is
running Mandrake 8.1. The new box will be running Mandrake 9.1, unless 9.2
is out before I get it built and looks stable enough. Currently the server
is running Postfix, Apache 1.3.x, BIND 9 and is hosting several users and
domains.
I'm going to have to transfer all the user files and configuration info
from one box to the other... including users and groups... transparently. I
know that this can be done... is it as simple as simply copying over
/etc/passwd, /etc/groups and /etc/shadow and then starting to copy over
/home? Followed by various config files? Right now moving Apache worries
me the most, since it's going to be an upgrade from 1.3.x to 2.x. Postfix
is my second worry, simply because I don't feel comfortable with my
knowledge levels there.

Thanks for any suggestions.
