This summer I have been teaching myself Visual Basic and have created far 
most useful applications for my classroom than any of the "canned" programs I 
have seen. I highly reccomend everyone to consider learning VB. It is not 
THAT hard and the results are worth it.
I teach band and always spend too much money on music (it has gone up very 
much during the last five years). With VB i created a program that displays 
over 40,000 rhythms. I will interface my computer with a large screen TV and 
will use it almost every day.
It is REALLY neat to be able to make the computer do exactly what you want it 
to do. Learn how to program, it is really worth the time.
I also use Power Point to create presentations for my classes. Even simple 
things the class rules on the first day of class are MUCH more effective when 
Power Point is used.
