Hi! David, On 13 Dec 06 09:33, you wrote to me: DW> I met a girl recently who's visiting Toronto from Brisbane. Then she went into details... Smart girl! Did she mention the mini-tornadoes that rip through the Brisbane valley every odd year? I used to live at the top end (city end of the valley) as a young feller. Luckily the storms tended to follow the river which was about 5 kliks west of our place, after having torn through the outer southern suburbs. We usually just copped the associated rain and electrical displays that would go on for about 20 minutes at a time. The usual cycle went like this: 3-4 days of sweltering heat and humidity; a half-hour storm (usually dead on knock-off time from work), which cooled us down overnight; then, another 3-4 days of heat and humidity as the previous storm's moisture evaporated; then, another half-hour storm... etc, etc... There's something about Brisbane's geography that allows for such a thing, for about 2-3 months each year. It's the opposite of that in Townsville, to the far north of here. There, it cannot ever rain due to the geography. If one avoids the extreme -cold-, it is far easier to get warm than it is to stay cool in the heat of summer... hereabouts. Cheers, Paul. ...
