Decades ago (1961 or thereabouts) we had a purebred collie (looked
*exactly* like Lassie) named 'Sweet Florence O'Dee' ('Flo' for short).
When she went into heat every male dog for blocks around would be
in or near our front yard.  One of those males was a beautiful apparently
purebred collie that was black with a white ruff, so I locked both of them
up in the garage for several hours.  Flo got preggers, of course, but
unfortunately none of the puppies survived.
