It certainly does in my environment. I saw some episoded of the third
season, didn`t understand a word, but liked it. So I waited for the next
rerun and watched it then. It sucked pretty much. Looking back I have to
say that german dubbing indeed ruined lots of it. But I knew that it would
be better in the third season, so I kept watching it.
You should have seen it. Everyday I sat on the sofa, watching B5, my
husband working on the computer, once in a while moaning how bad this
thing is and asking me why in the world I was watching this crap. Around
the end of the first season he stopped moaning. Some episodes later he
actually started listening, and at around the middle of the second season
he would stop working and get on the sofa with me to watch it.
Now, when the three seasons were through, the station "found out" that
they didn't have an appropriate timeslot for the fourth season (which they
would air for the first time), although they frequently change their
programme from one week to another because of "bad" ratings. So ...they
waited. It took four months for them to decide when they wanted to air it
(end of this month), and of course, all the fans are pretty PO'd.
We two on the other hand, have in the meantime convinced a friend
(Hallo Malte, liest du noch mit? ;) to watch it to, and we all lend the
videos from our videostore. "Unfortunately" they only bought most of the
tapes one week after we bought a package, but ... well. At the beginning
of the fourth season we were also buying the tapes as soon as they came
out, because it was just so darn exciting. Oh, and we had the luck to
watch the first movie on a Sci-Fi-Con in March, we were told it was a
premiere in Europe. :)
So, I guess, Malte has convinced another friend, and as one tagline put
it: it takes a lot of patience, but the reward is well worth it.
