BK>> None of us have looked at the evidence in that depth, but I
BK>> doubt he's innocent.
BA> I doubt that he's as guilty as they claim he is.
As guilty?
BK>> I don't see several administrations pursueing this for 30 years.
BK>> Remember, it's the German courts that want to try him.
BA> Only because of US pressure.
I doubt the German courts care that much about US pressure.
TW>>>>> That is a mind set that I just cannot understand.
BK>>>> That may be because you aren't all that ready to forgive and
BK>>>> forget mass murder.
BK>>>> Esp if they haven't paid their price for it.
BA>>> I'm sure that if the man is guilty that his penance will be
BA>>> forthcoming shortly. I doubt that he'll survive another year.
BK>> Which is nice, but the whole point of prosecuting war criminals
BK>> is to deter future war criminals. Which is why it must be done
BK>> in every possible case, regardless of how long it takes or any
BK>> devine retribution in the offing.
BK>> And he might just as well survive another 10. He might not even
BK>> be as sick as they claim, faking such illness is an old
BK>> technique for avoiding justice.
BA> The man is ninety-some years old. He's already long
BA> outlived the statistics. His crime seems to be that he
BA> didn't die in his seventies.
His crime, if he is the one, was committed in his 20s or 30s. If
he was 80 he would have a life expectancy of 8 years, in the US.
The chart does not go up to 90.
Dying while the trial goes on may just lead him to earlier
devine justice, but it does not excuse letting him walk away
now.
BA> FWIW a couple of decades ago the city of Bellevue, NE,
BA> decided it wanted to enhance the appearance of the entrance
BA> to the SAC museum (then located on the end of an unused
BA> runway at Offutt AFB and originally set up by SAC). So the
BA> city condemned the house a very elderly, pretty much
BA> poverty stricken couple lived in, kicked them out, burned
BA> the house and cleared the lot to make a nice lawn (note
BA> that the house was actually about fifty yards - most of
BA> which was lawn - from the museum gate). Both of those old
BA> folks died within a year of being evicted from their home.
Should have given them enough money to buy a new house, and get
care to adjust to the move. Or move them into an assissted
living facility. That might have extended their lives.
