A couple of (3?) decades ago some very highly paid Europeans moved from Europe
to here to escape the high taxes there.  And they specifically said that those taxes
were the reason they moved.

As one of the articles noted, most of those folks have second and third homes in
lower-tax states and simply moved their official residence from New Jersey to,
say, Florida, without having to actually relocate anything.
