I've noticed that my dental coverage saves me in two ways: 1) They cover
part of it. 2) The agreed on price is much lower than what the DDS charges
for people not on that insurance.
What really caught my attention was when I had switched dental plans and
they hadn't yet updated their database. They brought me a total price under
one plan and then a different one under my new plan. The second price was
hundreds less. Then there were the copay differences. Not sure if I came
out ahead or behind on the second as compared to the first. But it'd have
been much higher total if I hadn't had any dental coverage at all.
