You might have better luck asking for examples of specific programming needs. 
 After all, programming is a creative effort and one person's solution may 
not work completely for another one.  Also, it might be possible to provide 
more targeted types of ideas if we had a clearer idea of the specific 
problems you're trying to solve.
 
If you're looking for some overview material, don't forget to check out the 
BBS and Internet sites for Paradox.  For example, Borland's DLBBS contains a 
number of specific examples, though I doubt there's one targeted for 
sales/receipts.  Also, Borland has an FTP site for Internet surfers 
(ftp@borland.com)
