Replying to a message of Bob Klahn to Bob Ackley: TW>>>> So you thinbk those that have been sucessful at Hiding TW>>>> should just get off with nothing?? Just Kiss and Make up TW>>>> like NOTHING happened?? BK>>> How about "persecute" 60+ years after the fact? Persecute? BK>>> If he's guilty, his victims are still dead. If he's innocent, BK>>> then it's a miscarriage of justice, just like any other. BA>> The latter, IMO. But hey, it makes the persecutors feel BA>> real good. BK> None of us have looked at the evidence in that depth, but I BK> doubt he's innocent. I doubt that he's as guilty as they claim he is. BK> I don't see several administrations pursueing this for 30 years. BK> Remember, it's the German courts BK> that want to try him. Only because of US pressure. TW>>>> That is a mind set that I just cannot understand. BK>>> That may be because you aren't all that ready to forgive and BK>>> forget mass murder. BK>>> Esp if they haven't paid their price for it. BA>> I'm sure that if the man is guilty that his penance will be BA>> forthcoming shortly. BA>> I doubt that he'll survive another year. BK> Which is nice, but the whole point of prosecuting war criminals BK> is to deter future war criminals. Which is why it must be done BK> in every possible case, regardless of how long it takes or any BK> devine retribution in the offing. BK> And he might just as well survive another 10. He might not even BK> be as sick as they claim, faking such illness is an old BK> technique for avoiding justice. The man is ninety-some years old. He's already long outlived the statistics. His crime seems to be that he didn't die in his seventies. FWIW a couple of decades ago the city of Bellevue, NE, decided it wanted to enhance the appearance of the entrance to the SAC museum (then located on the end of an unused runway at Offutt AFB and originally set up by SAC). So the city condemned the house a very elderly, pretty much poverty stricken couple lived in, kicked them out, burned the house and cleared the lot to make a nice lawn (note that the house was actually about fifty yards - most of which was lawn - from the museum gate). Both of those old folks died within a year of being evicted from their home. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 SEEN-BY: 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
